Made by Design Documentary on Netflix
Made by Design is an original documentary series highlighting architects, interior and product designers in Africa. The series was created by Titi Ogufere, CEO of Essential Media Group (EMG).
The Made by Design documentary will offer a glimpse into the architectural, interior design and product design landscape of Africans. It features interviews and peeks at the outstanding projects of some of the best architects and designers in Africa.
This documentary was born out of the need to accurately represent African architecture, interior and product design through video content. It was a pleasure to partner with double Emmy Award winner and global filmmaker Abiola Matesun to bring this project to life. – Titi Ogufere.

Interior Design Professional Guide Africa / Middle East Book Launch
The Interior Design Professional Guide for Africa and the Middle East will be launched as part of the African Regional Roundtable. The 320-page book was authored by interior design expert, Titi Ogufere. It is packed with valuable information such as step-by-step guidelines, actionable advice and helpful images to ease the execution of every type of interior design project and practice, no matter the size.
Interior Design Buyers Guide App Launch
The ID Buyers Guide App is a new and innovative platform introduced to Africa’s home décor market. The IDBG App is an all-in-one online marketplace for products and services and a social network for trade and consumers to search, discover and buy interior design products and services within Africa.
We decided to create a manual to help interior designers of all levels to execute their projects with ease and excellence, and an app which will bring design products home to the consumer. – Titi Ogufere.
EXHIBITIONS AND PRIZES
Design Kulture Exhibition
The Design Kulture Exhibition is an annual showcase for sourcing furniture and design objects in Africa. It is a meeting point for decision makers in the design and manufacturing industry and a bridge between manufacturers and design practitioners within the region.
A special highlight of the exhibition is the DWL 2021 Prize. Design Week Lagos created the prize to encourage innovation amongst young designers who have shown dedication towards evolving the idea of African inspired design.
The winner of the Prize will be awarded:
● 1 million Naira grant
● A trip to Milan to attend the Salone del Mobile 2022
● A solo presentation at the Design Kulture Exhibition
● Mentorship from a world-renowned product designer – Charles O Job.
VIRTUAL ROUNDTABLES
IFI African Regional Roundtable
This event will provide insight into the IFI Education Policy. The roundtable will bring together over 5000 Pan-African designers, including practitioners, academic institutions, educators, professional associations, policymakers, governments and students.
African Trade Roundtable
The Africa Trade Roundtable, themed “Developing the Interior Design Trade and Services Market through the AfCFTA,” will bring together intra-African trade experts, government officials, international trade and commercial law experts, policymakers, scholars, etc. from across the continent to discuss the pertinent issues arising out of the implementation of the AfCFTA.

IDEA Awards Night
The Innovative Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), formally known as the Interior Design Excellence Awards, is Nigeria’s largest and most successful independent design awards program. Established in 2012, the program celebrates the ever-evolving world of Design in Africa, and most recently, our aim has expanded.
We believe good design is a crucial driver of innovation, economic growth, export and development. We are dedicated to showcasing those who have used design as a tool to impact the fields of architecture, interior design, furniture design, industrial design, brand + communication design, technology, urban design and animation. The design trophy was designed by African design legend Demas Nwoko.
