Design Across the City: A Network of Creative Activations

Design Week Lagos (DWL) is a citywide celebration of creativity that thrives on collaboration. Since its inception, DWL has partnered with over 250 unique events both in Lagos and globally—transforming the city into a live, interactive design experience.

From showrooms and galleries to restaurants, schools, markets, and factories, our partner events take place in the most unexpected and inspiring locations. Programming includes: exhibitions, pop-ups, showroom tours, installations, walking tours, book and product launches, talks, workshops, awards, music performances, late-night events, masterclasses, factory visits, design dinners, and virtual experiences.

DWL partner events reflect the diversity and vibrancy of African design culture—spanning disciplines, industries, and voices—while opening up new opportunities for community engagement, brand visibility, and cultural exchange.

Alliance Francaise

The book launch of “In Conversation with Demas Nwoko,” authored by Titi Ogufere in collaboration with Alliance Francaise, promises to be a landmark event celebrating African design and architecture. This book explores the works and philosophy of Demas Nwoko, one of Africa’s most innovative architects, and delves into his influence on contemporary African design. The launch will highlight discussions on the evolution of African design, offering insights into Nwoko’s creative process and contributions to the architectural landscape.

Design Week Lagos took a significant step in promoting African creativity on the global stage by participating in Milan Design Week. This initiative, supported by the Salon Satellite, provided a platform for young African designers to showcase their innovative work and explore new pathways in manufacturing methods. The exhibition highlighted the rich history of craftsmanship and unique material knowledge across the continent, promoting Lagos as an international hub for design.

Design and Innovation Hub of Nigeria

The Nigerian Federal Government has launched a groundbreaking initiative through the Design and Innovation Hub of Nigeria, aiming to train one million youths in digital and creative skills. This ambitious program will focus on areas such as furniture, product, and industrial design, in collaboration with Design Week Lagos. The initiative will provide extensive training and mentorship opportunities, equipping young Nigerians with the skills needed to excel in various creative fields.
