The National Design Innovation Competition (NDIC) is a nationwide pipeline program that identifies, trains, and showcases Nigeria’s most promising young talents across furniture, product, textile, toy, lighting, and industrial design. It’s targeted at creatives aged 18 to 35, and is designed to nurture both individual potential and national industrial competitiveness.
Launched in March 2024, the program is built around three core elements:
Training Program:
A structured series of virtual classes (delivered via Zoom) and hands-on factory-based workshops in Lagos. Topics span materials, production, design principles, and entrepreneurship.
National Competition:
A juried design challenge that selects the most promising designs based on innovation, execution, and market potential.
Showcase & Recognition:
Finalists are celebrated through public exhibitions during Design Week Lagos and featured in the National Design & Innovation Exhibition in February 2026.
